Hello Iā€™m Connor McLinn

I'm a 20-year-old freelance illustrator and graphic designer, known for my imaginative and vibrant figure portraits.

Even though I am still very young, I sometimes find it hard to grow up and leave the past behind, and because of that, my art is heavily inspired by the vices of my childhood. Initially, I wanted to go into the animation field in any way I possibly could, trying to emulate the Disney and Pixar movies I watched hundreds of times back to back. Though I quickly came to the realization that the draw of these movies for me was the unique and lively character designs, so I switched my focus to figure illustration.

In the middle of 2020 when the pandemic was just starting up I decided to save up some money and buy myself an iPad to focus on developing my own style. I pulled inspiration from the movies I loved so much as a kid and also form a small indie band that's music videos changed the way I perceived the so-called "cartoony" style of illustration. The Gorillaz 19-2000 and Rock the House music videos have been stuck in my head from the first time I watched them as a 4-year-old, and now I try to bring their chaotic nature and wild premises into everything I make.

Though I lack a formal education, my pedigree is filled with well-known artists for all forms of media, which I try to incorporate into every piece I make. In the early stages of my art career, I was mentored by my mother, an accomplished cinematographer, and my second father, a world-famous sports photographer in the ways of digital editing. I now continue my art apprenticeship with my dad, learning the more technical elements of design and what it means to be my own boss. In the future, I hope to continue this tradition of mentorship and be a form of inspiration to my two younger siblings.
